Meet Vincent van Gogh – London, Feb-May 2020

Following stints in Beijing, Barcelona, and Seoul, the interactive art exhibit, Meet Vincent Van Gogh, has migrated to London. Created by the Van Gogh Museum, the exhibit invites art lovers of all ages to step into panoramic and 3D renderings of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings. When you’re not immersed in the flickering lights of his Starry Night, try your hand at a self-portrait or look through the perspective frame that helped van Gogh hone his skills as a self-taught painter.

U.S. Olympics and Paralympic Museum – Colorado Springs, May 2020

If you can’t make it to Tokyo for the Olympics this year, head to the U.S. Olympics and Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs instead. Exhibits range from the Olympic torches and medals of years past to an interactive race against Olympic greats like Jessie Owens on a 30-meter track. Don’t miss the chance to experience what it’s like to walk through a tunnel towards the opening ceremonies, either. LEGOLAND – New York, July 4, 2020

The 9th LEGOLAND park in the world, LEGOLAND New York, opens its gates this Fourth of July. It will feature 7 different lands including LEGO Castle, LEGO Pirates, and LEGO Ninjago World. During a trip, kids can also earn a LEGOLAND driver’s license or trade any mini figure they bring from home for a new one from any park employee. You can also inspect the miniature New York City model, complete with a LEGO brick Empire State Building and Times Square.

2020 Olympics Tokyo – Tokyo, July 24–August 9, 2020

It’s Tokyo’s turn to host the best athletes in the world for the 2020 Olympic Games. Along with summer Olympic favorites like diving, gymnastics and track, the 2020 games welcome athletes competing in 3×3 basketball, freestyle BMX, karate, and sports climbing for the first time. Between big events, make the most of your Tokyo visit by viewing to Mount Fuji or sitting in on a sumo wrestling practice.

Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park – Anaheim, Summer 2020

This summer Disneyland Resort welcomes the brand new Avengers Campus. Join the Avengers to help Spiderman collect loose spiderbots on the Webslinger Vehicle. You can also board the Avengers’ aircraft, the Quinjet, on a ride to Wakanda. In between rides, grab a bite from Pym’s Test Kitchen, which makes meals fit for Antman, Thor, and every Marvel hero in between.

Humboldt Forum – Berlin, September 2020

After many years of construction, the $60 million Humboldt Forum museum will open this year in a reconstructed Berlin Palace. The space will serve many purposes besides its main function as a museum—the Forum will also feature a Japanese tea house and a Humboldt University of Berlin scientific laboratory.

Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium – Las Vegas, September 2020

Previously the Oakland Raiders, the 3-time Superbowl champions have moved to Las Vegas, where they will play home games at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. The $1 billion building will not only host upcoming NFL seasons, but will also serve as an event space. Get tickets to see Garth Brooks play the inaugural concert a few weeks before kickoff.

Game of Thrones Studio Tour –Northern Ireland, Fall 2020

A larger-than-life show deserves a larger-than-life attraction. For fans missing HBO’s Game of Thrones, Linen Mill Studios has created the ultimate GoT Studio Tour. This 110,000 square foot space (between Belfast and Dublin) features sets, costumes and props from Winterfell, King’s Landing, and Braavos. Forget new continents: this 2020 bucket list item will have you travelling all over Westeros and beyond.

Munch Museum – Oslo, Fall 2020

Open since 1963, the Munch Museum (home to half of the works of Norwegian artist, Edvard Munch) will relocate to the Bjørvika borough of Oslo. The museum’s move coincides with the restoration of Munch’s most famous painting, The Scream, which has been fading since 2012. But not to worry. After restoration, museum workers will move the iconic painting to the museum’s new location for you to view.

Academy Museum of Motion Pictures – Los Angeles, December 14, 2020

Nearly three years after it was slated to open, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will finally open in Los Angeles in December 2020. This film mecca will feature multiple rotating exhibits plus a permanent collection of legendary film memorabilia. Get up close to Dorothy’s ruby slippers, a shark mold from Jaws, and the typewriter used to write Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. With a 1,000-seat theater and rooftop terrace with a view of the Hollywood Sign, visiting the Academy Museum will be an all-day event and a check on an epic 2020 bucket list.

Grand Egyptian Museum – Cairo, Late 2020

Not to be confused with the Egyptian Museum, the new Grand Egyptian Museum boasts a collection of 100,000 objects in the 500,000 square meter space, easily the largest archeological museum in the world. It’s set to include the funerary collection of King Tut that has been travelling the world for decades. Just a 10-minute drive from the Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum is sure to become a 2020 bucket list item for anyone travelling to Egypt.

Expo 2020 – Dubai, October 20, 2020­–April 10, 2021

You may know it as the “World’s Fair,” but these international parties are more commonly referred to as “Expos.” This year, Dubai hosts the nearly 6-month event to celebrate the world’s achievements in art, science and technology. The 2020 Expo will feature 192 unique country pavilions and more than 60 live shows daily, all inside a futuristic man-made metropolis.
