Cruising from the US has a start date: All aboard Celebrity Edge

Get ready to sail again because the CDC has given Celebrity Edge the green light to be the first cruise ship carrying ticketed passengers from the US in more than a year.

Captained by Kate McCue (the first, and still only, American female Captain), the ship sets sail June 26 on a seven-night cruise of the Caribbean. According to Celebrity, all its ships will operate with a fully vaccinated crew, and US guests ages 16 and older (changing to ages 12 and older from August 1, 2021) must be fully vaccinated. You can find out more information about the use of masks onboard cruise ships and vaccinations on the official CDC website.

We know this announcement is just the beginning—sailings to Alaska, the Caribbean, and more, are set to resume this summer—and we couldn’t be more excited and thrilled to announce the return of cruising. Keep reading to learn more about what makes the Celebrity Edge a revolutionary ship in a league of its own as we get closer to its re-debut.

What makes Celebrity Edge so special?

The new, original features onboard Celebrity Edge set this vessel apart from other ships in the fleet and other ships across the industry. Designed to integrate the inside with the outside across the entire vessel, the real jewel in its crown is the Magic Carpet®, a floating platform that reaches 13 stories above sea level. Designed with comfortable seating, a full bar, and space for live music performances, it’s one of the best places to lounge onboard.

Another one of Celebrity Edge’s most unique features is the Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda®. At the touch of a button, you can expand your room right to the water’s edge, giving you open-air access to the sea. These staterooms feature the latest in design and technology, and they’re 23% larger than Celebrity’s award-winning Solstice® Series veranda staterooms. Also a first for the Celebrity fleet is the Edge Villas—luxurious two-story suites that feature private plunge pools and direct walkout access to the exclusive Retreat sundeck.

Outside on the Resort Deck, you’ll find the Rooftop Garden. This unique outdoor space has live greenery and offers activities such as yoga during the day and transforms into a patio-style venue at night with live music, outdoor dining, and movie experiences. Meanwhile, inside you’ll find Eden—another revolution in modern luxury travel. This space is called “a room that lives”, where you’ll find panoramic views and an atmosphere that changes throughout the day.
